Villas in Faro

Algarve’s capital Faro has Roman origins, and a history of Byzantine, Visigoth and Moorish conquerors, and as a result is full of history, interesting architecture and a selection of memorable museums. The town has an attractive marina, neat parks and pretty squares, and modern-day Faro offers chic boutiques, excellent restaurants and cafés galore, art galleries, the Ria Formosa nature reserve with its endemic chameleons and flamingos, and of course, fantastic beaches.

The relaxed and unspoilt Faro beach, mostly used by locals, is accessible by a regular bus service from the town. The other beaches on the coast are stunning spits of sand that make up the periphery of the Ria Formosa marshes and lagoons, and regular ferry trips can take you to these alluring islands.

The subtropical-Mediterranean climate means that the Faro area is abundant with lush fields of fruit, olive and almond trees for which the Algarve is known, as well as ensuring that those looking for a sun-drenched beach holiday will have an idyllic time here.
