3 bedroom holiday villa in Benidorm, Costa Blanca, with private pool
I hired the house for four days and it was perfect for our needs. Plenty of facilities to make your own meals, WiFi, air con and a nice small pool. Although the thermostat was broken meaning the pool was very cold, not help be awful weather. Overall we enjoyed the house and it was in a great location.

Travel guide

A quick overview of Benidorm

Formerly a humble fishing village, Benidorm in the province of Alicante has flourished into a vibrant, skyscraper-adorned tourist resort, popular for its energetic nightlife, pristine coastline and pleasant climate. Situated 60km east of Alicante airport, it has been dubbed as the 'Dubai of the Mediterranean', attracting over 4 million holidaymakers each year. Our premium apartments and holiday rentals in Benidorm are within easy reach of the resort's main attractions; a stunning beach, lively palm-lined promenade, luxury shopping complexes, seafront restaurants, fifteen 18-hole golf courses and of course, plenty of bars, clubs and pubs.

How to get to Benidorm

Benidorm is served by Alicante airport, located just 60 kilometres southwest from Benidorm. Flights from the UK to Alicante take between two and three hours. To get the best deals, it is advisable to book flights at least five weeks earlier. Murcia airport also has international flights, but it’s twice as far to Benidorm compared to Alicante. Transfer options from the airport to your accommodation include buses and taxis. Taxis take about 40 minutes to reach Benidorm, and cost between 70 and 80 Euros. Buses take a bit longer, depending on the traffic, but cost considerably less. You can even book cheap return bus tickets from Alicante to Benidorm with Alsa.

Beaches in Benidorm

Nestled between two sandy bays, Benidorm is home to plenty of beaches with Blue Flag status; the two main ones being Levante beach and Poniente. Both offer an array of water sports, and their lively metropolitan atmosphere makes them the perfect place to people watch while soaking up some sun. At over 3 km, Poniente is the largest beach, boasting the best sunset views. Levante in the west is where you'll find the liveliest crowds, with diving boards, swinging bridges and a wide, modern seafront promenade brimming with shops and restaurants.

Golf courses in Benidorm

Benidorm is surrounded by several beautiful golf courses. The finest two are Las Rejas and Villaitana. Las Rejas is very well kept and well-groomed. It was founded in 2008 and, having only 9 holes, is not as nearly as large as Villaitana. It’s suitable mostly for beginners and experienced players who want to up their game. Villaitana Golf is over 6,612 metres long with wonderful and well-manicured greens. The course is quite exciting and mostly suited to low handicapped players, however there are alternatives suited to medium and high handicapped players as well.

Things to do in Benidorm

For a change of scenery, the old town offers a more authentic taste of Spain, with its winding cobbled streets, church of San Jaime, atmospheric alfresco dining and charming whitewashed houses. After sundown, watch the square behind Hotel Marina come to life with crowds looking to let their hair down at the local bars and pubs. If you're looking for a big night out with all the glitz and glamour, you'll want to head to Benidorm Palace. From flamenco shows to magic tricks and live music, there's always something to capture your attention here; or try your luck at Casino Mediterraneo, one of the largest casinos in Spain, between Benidorm and Villajoyosa.

Kids activities in Benidorm

Benidorm is perfect for family holidays and the main reason is there’s tons of activities for kids. First of all, there’s the beach. Kids love sandy beaches, and Benidorm is flanked by two magnificent ones. On the eastern side of the resort there are Aqualandia and Mundomar. Aqualandia is a water park with excellent pools and water-slides for all ages. Due to its size it’s rarely crowded, even in high season. Mundomar is an animal park with an attractive collection of animals. You can pre-book tickets for the park online, which is cheaper than buying tickets on site. Terra Mítica, northwest from the resort, is an amusement park with beautiful ancient world themes and white-knuckle rides. The park also puts up shows and there are fast food stands and restaurants inside to top up your energy levels.

Getting around Benidorm

The resort is not large; not small either. However, getting around is best done on foot or bicycle. Using any other means of transportation means robbing yourself of the experience of strolling along the charming, narrow streets of the resort. If you’re planning a day trip outside of the resort, then the best and cheapest option would be public transportation or using Alsa. They’re reliable, have regular lines and are inexpensive.

Where to eat in Benidorm

It looks like a bunch of new restaurants crop up in Benidorm with every season, which is good. Benidorm has always had a good restaurant scene and it’s nice to have a variety, from spick and span fast food joints to luxurious restaurants. So whether you prefer sausages and mash, dry-aged beef with Russian salad or just a good old burger and a pint for your meal, the important thing is there’s a choice for every pocket. It’s difficult to single out a restaurant in Benidorm. However, La Falúa definitely comes to mind. The restaurant has been in Benidorm for a while now, collecting praise. It’s near the west promenade of Playa de Poniente and marries a soothing atmosphere with delicious food.

Nightlife in Benidorm

A lot has changed since the 1960s, especially in Benidorm when this was just a small fishing village. Now, it’s grown into a full-size resort with skyscrapers, enormous sand beaches, excellent restaurants, bars and nightclubs that rock late into the night. For a friskier night out, try KU Discoteca or Jokers. Both remain open until small hours and while KU is mostly about loud music and dancing, Joker puts on live performances. And while at Jokers’, another great way to spend the night is a classic pub crawl in English square. It’s got a great choice of bars and drinks are cheap.

Shopping in Benidorm

Shopping is one of the main attractions in Benidorm, and the resort is brimming with shops and markets and malls and kiosks. The best place to start is the old town. There are literally hundreds of shops there, selling everything from souvenirs to tattoos at very reasonable prices. Stepping out of the old town into Levante or the town centre, you can find upmarket suppliers and more popular brands. Also, there are several bigger supermarkets with cheap groceries. New town is home to an excellent indoor market with great bargains and cafes - Mercaloix. West of Benidorm, when exiting Cala to join either one of the two main motorways is an area with lots of malls and supermarkets, from do-it-yourself stores to car dealers; definitely cheap and worth checking out.
