Where to stay in Ibiza for couples
You may think the idea of a perfect romantic break in Ibiza is a bit farfetched – but draw closer and we’ll let you into a few secrets as to why Ibiza holidays for couples are so amazing. Some of our favourite places on the island are quiet resorts for couples with a more peaceful vibe, with plenty of gorgeous sunset watching spots, as well as some amazing restaurants that are perfect for a romantic meal. Here are some of our favourite quiet resorts in Ibiza for couples.
Santa Eulalia
When you’re looking for the best place to stay in Ibiza for couples, Santa Eulalia comes pretty close. It’s a beautiful resort perched on the east coast and known for being a great alternative to Ibiza’s party towns. The palm-lined promenade is just made for wistful wandering, and the marina is a great spot to gaze at gorgeous yachts and dream of the future.
Santa Eulalia has a reputation as a gastronomic hotspot and is home to some of the islands best-loved restaurants and tapas bars. If finding foodie heaven is a big part of your holiday head to Calle San Vicente – known locally as food street and prepare to have your taste buds truly tantalised. If culture is more your thing, you’ll find plenty of art galleries and a small folk museum to explore together. Shopping enthusiasts will love the boutiques and you’re close to Punta Arabi too, Ibiza’s famous hippy market which is a wonder for the senses as well as being packed with fab hippy crafts.
This is a great spot for couples who want to dip into Ibiza’s party scene as well – Ibiza Town is just a short ride away so you can still get your fix of Pacha but without the full-on party town vibe.
Portinatx
Perhaps the best area in Ibiza for couples hoping to glimpse into Ibiza’s wilder side, Portinatx on the north of the island is a petite resort that is just made for couples who want to feel they’ve escaped the hustle and bustle of home. You’ll spend your days enjoying the beaches like the beautiful cove at Cala Xuclar, with instagrammable boat huts, mars red rocks and crystal waters. If you fancy something more active, take one of the stunning coastal walks, absorbing the scent of pine forests while gazing at turquoise seas. It’s a great base if you like to explore too – you’re a short trip from Sant Joan de Labrijta which is one of Ibiza’s most authentic villages and perfect for sampling a smattering of real Ibizan life.
Nightime in Portinatx is lower key than the Superclub hotspots, but you’ll find a good choice of bars restaurants and cafes to enjoy and some of them are pretty lively. Of course, if you’re luxuriating in the freedom of your own private villa, you can have a gorgeous evening over a market-fresh picnic of tasty local produce while watching the sun drape the fields with hues of orange and purple.
Ibiza Town
Ibiza Town has a deserved name as a nightlife haven, but that doesn’t rule it out if you’re wondering where to stay in Ibiza for couples. High above the harbour is Dalt Villa, the sixteenth-century hilltop old town that’s just made for romantic afternoons and evenings. Picture yourselves spending your days wandering higgledy-piggledy alleyways, perhaps uncovering the perfect keepsake in a bijou boutique before stopping for tapas and glass of Hierbas Ibenicas and watching the waters below.
You’ll be able to enjoy some beach time together too and there’s a good choice in easy reach. The most central is Playa Figueretas, a busy, well-equipped town beach or if you prefer something more peaceful, you’ll find Playa S’Estanyol just a few kilometres away.
We think Ibiza holidays for couples are a hidden gem and there’s lots more to discover during your time on the beautiful White Island.
