This is our 2nd visit this year, which we thoroughly enjoyed again. The Stables is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, plenty if walks around the area of the village. The owners Karen and John, very helpful and always available if any help needed. They also run the village pub The Happy Union. Highly recommended as a holiday base.

What a fantastic time we had at the Stables Karen n John were always close at hand to help us as they also ran the village pub and post office. Although we had temperatures below freezing the accommodation was lovely and warm. It has everything you can think of that you will need. The valley is so picturesque, watching the Red Kites soaring around and it’s so peaceful. We will definitely visit again

As usual everything was perfect with the Stables. John and Karen are fantastic hosts. I cannot rate the Stables or the area highly enough!

Accommodation was very well maintained and everything worked perfectly. Lots of great walks direct from the doorstep to keep our spaniel more than happy. Within 30 mins you can visit many fantastic valleys and forest walks including the always popular Elan Valley and the equally impressive Hafren forest leading up to the source of the Severn. Abbeycwmhir is a very quiet place but everybody we did meet could not have been friendlier. All in all this was the perfect choice for our family of 4 plus spaniel to get away from it all and spend quality time roaming across the spectacular Mid Wales countryside.

Our stay here was perfect in every way. The owners were friendly and helpful. The cottage had everything we needed, including a good wifi connection, which was really useful as we had no phone signal, so used the internet to book online for tables for dinner etc. The trip was worth it just for the homemade Bara Brith awaiting us on our arrival - delicious! Abbeycwmhir is peaceful, and beautiful and we had many wildlife encounters in the valley, including Hare & Deer. Lots of Red Kite and it was lovely to hear Owls in the evening. The surrounding area is stunning and we particularly enjoyed walking on Glyndwr's Way, Gilfach Nature Reserve, Elan Valley, and the Clywedog Resevoir. We spent several evenings having dinner at The Crown Inn, in Rhayader, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We would definitely holiday here again. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay with you!

Fabulous property in the middle of a beautiful village. The house was spotlessly clean and things like fresh milk, butter and a fruit loaf really made it a home from home experience. John and Karen were great, communication was really good - we will be back again. Had a fantastic few days walking in the local area.

It was my second stay at Tailor's Cottage and it didn't disappoint. A charming rustic cottage in a beautiful rural setting made all the better with a bit of sunshine.

This is an excellent property in a superb location quite location, but not far from any where. There is a large enclosed garden which was great for our pet greyhound. The owners John and His wife Karin are very nice, kind and helpful people. We have stayed in many property's both in the UK and Europe and this one is up with the best.

The property is in a beautiful, rural area steeped in history and natural beauty. There are several local walks you can do from the village including the forestry. The property itself we found to be clean and spacious. The towels were great as they were not the size of the usual postage stamp, very well thought out Karen! The wifi worked a treat and we didn't find the kitchen to be lacking in anything needed. The appliances were easy to use, i.e. Dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Kitchen is very well equipped. The only downside for me was I found the bed uncomfortable but as everyone knows you cannot please everyone in the bed department, it is an individual preference. The beds have springs in the mattresses and unfortunately I felt every one of them. I have to say it would not deter me from booking the property again, I would just bring my own mattress topper from home.........problem solved! The supermarket (Tesco) is in Llandrindod Wells but there is a local shop within the texaco station at cross gate which is handy if you need something on the hurry up. The Elan Valley is within 30 minutes drive and is exceptional. It has something for everyone there. The views are incredible. All in all we had a very relaxing holiday with our dogs, we found Karen and John to be the perfect hosts, there when necessary. The spaniel had to be admitted to vet to have stitches, she is presently sulking as she is grounded : ) Diolch yn fawr iawn

Was a lovely stay in a beautiful area, the surroundings and scenery are beautiful, the cottage is lovely and clean and has everything you need for a self catering holiday. John and Karen were very helpful and communication prior to booking was spot on. Recommended for peace and tranquillity in a very remote area.
