Area
We loved our time in Soller and would consider returning to this town and maybe this villa. It was a very cute looking house, well situated near the town with a pool. Very close proximity to the tram stop which takes you to Port de Soller. A 15 minute walk to the beautiful town centre of Soller (try to catch the market there on Wednesdays). The whole area was charming and felt very "Spanish", not like resorts overrun by English tourists or catering for only for English tourists. Beautiful views around the villa of the mountains. Whilst we were there we didn't really experience any insects (mosquitoes/ants etc.). Nice breeze some days from the mountains. There was a lovely healthy food shop selling veg/fruit and other essentials very close by, as well as a small supermarket and a bakery. We found no need to do the usual Carrefour 'big shop' we've needed at other Villas. For this reason, the closeness of the town and the tram service to the port/beach, we found we didn't really need the hire car we had. Although we'd planned to visit Deia and other local places, we found the driving too much of a challenge (narrow roads edged by high walls, hair-pin beds etc.) in the large people carrier we had. The main roads from Palma and to Port de Soller were good.
Villa
The villa doesn't have aircon but this didn't pose such a big problem as we've experienced in other parts of Spain. However, more portable electric fans are needed to service all of the bedrooms, the ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms wasn't quite sufficient. Pool terrace quite small but sufficient - however, needed more sunbeds/seating for a family of 6. Currently only 4 sunbeds. Wouldn't say it was suitable for young children, there are flights of concrete steps outside to the pool and to the third bedroom (which is on the 1st floor but via an exterior set of steps). The outside eating space was lovely, and we spent a lot of time there. Kitchen was a little dated (typically spanish), the equipment was ok, good fruit juicer/coffee percolator. However, it lacked multiple shelves in the oven for baking and baking dishes (we bought disposable ones from the local pound shop). Comfortable living room with plenty of seating for 6, we managed to change the language on the TV so we could watch a few English programmes - but a DVD player would have been useful. The bathroom was new and well equipped, lovely big shower. Good facilities for washing and drying clothes. Overall a good villa and very good value for money.
