We spent 2 days in Valletta before heading to Gozo. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable in a fabulous location close to all visitor attractions. Sandra arranged for a taxi to collect us from the airport and provided a lovely welcome package of supplies. We all enjoyed standing on the balcony admiring the amazing view. Lovely apartment. Would recommend.

Very nice home in a great location. Very easy communication, check in and check out. As per the pictures it is not modern but comfortable, homey and spacious. The view is amazing and you can walk to everything in Valletta easily. We would stay there again.

Upside: Great location, excellent local contact, good price. Having a washer and a crib is highly convenient, too. Downside: Furniture is in poor condition and overdue for an upgrade. Master bedroom bed was incredibly squeaky (tiny movements would produce loud cracking sounds that woke up our baby) and had visible damage. Wobbly drawers. Misaligned kitchen cabinets. Parts of kitchen chairs kept falling off, etc, etc. You get what you pay for, but I was expecting everything to work properly.

Hi Alex, Thanks for your feedback. The kitchen comments I understand - we do advertise it as "retro" and it can be seen in the photographs that it is an original 1970s kitchen and, yes, there is one knob on one chair that falls out of its fitting, very annoyingly. I will ask Sandra to check out the master bed 'squeaking' and 'loud cracking sounds' ??? and 'wobbly drawers' because that's news to me. Thank you for letting me know about it. Best regards, Debra

A very nice place with a fantastic localization. The hords from the cruiseships could actually look down upon us, so near were we the harbour (and we could wave to the rest of the family on the balcony when two of us left Malta with ferry). Complaints from a neighbour that my daughters sunbaded on the roof terrace (not topless of course) did not destroy a very fine holiday

Hi Gaute, Yes, it is fantastic to be able to sit on the balcony and watch all the comings and goings in the Grand Harbour. I'm hoping they bring back the flying boat as I used to love watching that taking off and landing on the water. We spoke about the incident with your daughter. It sounds like Sandra was able to sort it out for you but I'm sorry it occurred in the first place. So glad you didn't let it affect your holiday. Kind regards, Debra

The apartment is perfectly located in the heart of Valletta, close to the quays and the city center. The welcome of Sandra is nice. We have chosen for the airport-apartment formula by the taxi proposed by the owner. Very practical not to waste time in the frame of an extended wek-end. The apartment has a beautiful view of the harbor. The bedding is comfortable. The kitchen is very "vintage" with its green furniture in Formica 70s! We do not agree with the criticisms issued in a recent opinion. Of course, this is not a luxury apartment, the facilities are simple, the furnishings old and a little heterogeneous but the price-performance ratio is perfectly justified. We therefore advise anyone who does not have a car and want visit Valletta on foot. In the register of small reviews: old building, so sound (we hear the neighbors) and the sound of some cars that honk early in the morning reverberate on the large and beautiful walls that line the street. The 2 rooms overlook the street ... In addition, the terrace in the advertisement is not directly accessible from the apartment, you have to take the stairs of the building and go up 2 floors. Not very convenient for an aperitif and enjoy the beautiful view up there. Perfection is not of this world, we recommend this accommodation very nice!

Thanks very much Marie-Pascale. I've always been careful to advertise my apartment as being in a residential area and therefore you live as the locals do when you stay with me. It's not like a luxury 5-star hotel; it's a comfortable family home which happens to have one of the best views in Malta! Thanks again. Debra

We loved the location right next to the old town of Valletta, the privacy, the view from the balcony and kitchen window, and the pleasant and clean entrance and common areas. What was disappointing though was that the interior of the apartment itself was rough and ready. The “bedside lamps” in the twin bedroom were just naked long-life bulbs in scruffy fittings with no lampshades. The coffee table in the breakfast area was so rickety it wobbled every time we touched it. The quilts in the wardrobes (we had to use them as the nights were chilly) were dirty and stained and didn’t smell too nice. No matter how careful we were, the shower leaked all over the floor and had to be mopped every morning. The reason for this is that the plastic seal along the bottom of the shower screen is aged, mouldy and doesn’t fit right into the corner any more. We were also very disappointed when we were told that the area of the roof terrace with the view over the harbour was not for our use. We were allowed to peek at the view briefly, but the area we could use was on the road side of the roof, from where there was no view. The two orange loungers we were shown we could use were spattered with black mould. There were a white plastic table and chairs in the corner – behind someone else’s washing. So we didn’t use the roof at all. There was nothing to see. The house the apartment is in is in a cul de sac, but it is a really busy street from early morning as drivers start at 5am to bag the sought-after places in the small car park at the end of the road. If you’re a light sleeper, you’ll need ear plugs. (Would like to be able to attach photos with this review.)

Hi Adrienne, Wow! I've never had a review like yours before. However, we do take customer feedback very seriously so I will try to respond to each of your points in good faith. I know about the bedside lampshades in the twin beds room. Unfortunately, the children of the guests immediately before broke both of them. I was a bit heartbroken about this as they were unique - glass tubes that were graded from deep orange up to yellow that looked amazing when lit. Sandra, our caretaker, spent some days trying to replace an exact match but unfortunately this has not been possible. The new lampshades are similar but not as special as the ones before. Coffee table in kitchen? We don't have one, so I'm not sure what you mean by this. All quilts on the beds are new last year. These are all kept in the linen cupboards in the main hall. Perhaps you got mixed up and used the old spare quilts which we've hung onto tucked away in a cupboard (just in case people feel they want two quilts on their bed in winter)? Nobody has used these in years, especially since we had the new heating system installed. I know in summer Sandra often makes up the beds with just the sheets and duvet covers but she should have told you where to find the correct duvets if you felt you needed one. However, I will tell her to give the old quilts a wash just in case future guests make the same mistake. Regarding the shower seal, thank you. This was replaced last year when I had to buy this as a spare part in England. Fortunately I bought two at the same time, so I'll get Victor the handyman to look at whether it needs replacing again. Regarding the sunloungers, thank you. These, too, are only one year old. I'll get Sandra, our caretaker, to check on their condition. I'm always careful to tell people the roof space is shared with one set of neighbours. We have the larger side of the roof for our use, but until now our neighbours have been fine if guests wander over to drink in the full view of the harbour. I'm a bit disturbed anyone only "allowed to peek at the view briefly" and will investigate. Yes, the apartment is in a residential area but it is generally very quiet. I've never heard of 5am traffic to the car park around the corner. Again, I'll ask Sandra if there has been any special activity in the locality recently that I don't know about. Thanks for all your feedback. I have taken it on board and will set about fixing whatever elements it's in my power to fix.

The best thing about Debra's beautiful flat is the location - in the absolute heart of Valletta's old town. The other best thing is the spectacular view over the Grand Harbour from the balcony and from the kitchen - it made washing up a pleasure! I was there with two friends and won the sofa bed option but there was no problem with that - the facilities are all there, plenty of towels too which was nice compared with some other places that can be quite stingy on that front. We were only there for 3 nights but very much hope to return for a slightly longer stay next time - Highly recommended!

Thank you, Marcia. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves and we look forward to welcoming you back sometime. I love your comment about the view making even the washing-up a pleasure. I know exactly what you mean! That view is phenomenal, isn't it - I never tire of it myself.

Lovely apartment, ideal for the 5 of us. It was great that the TV room with sofa bed could be turned into separate bedroom. Stunning view out of the living room window. Close to centre of Valletta & restaurants & bars, especially if you use the lift (€1). Thank you for arranging pickup for the 5 of us in one vehicle from the airport, but unfortunately the transport did not turn up at 5:30 am for the return journey & we had to walk to taxi rank at bus station to get to airport.

Oh my goodness, Sarah - I'm so sorry you were let down over your return journey to the airport. I cannot imagine what has gone wrong, the car firm is so reliable I have literally never heard of this situation before. But it's awful - I'm always terrified of missing flights myself so something like this would worry me enormously if it happened to me. Usually what happens is our guests tell the driver who picks them up at the airport at the start of their holiday which day and what time they need to return to the airport and the car is there waiting outside for them at the right time. Did that not happen with you? The driver should have prompted you for that information if you didn't offer it. I will investigate what's happened, but meanwhile please accept my apologies. Glad you had a great time up until then!

We enjoyed our stay and were well looked after by Sandra. The apartment is in a great location and was spacious for us, a family of 4, with grown up children. We loved the view, so it was a shame that the heat of the August sun at the time made it less comfortable to enjoy the roof terrace, which is situated up a flight of stairs. Thank you for our stay and the complimentary water bottles provided. P.S. A guest book to pass on tips and hints to future travellers would have been helpful to us.

Thank you for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Good idea about the guest book - we keep a good supply of local leaflets on things to see and do, but I never thought guests might also like to pass on their recommendations to the next visitors.
