About

Hi, My name is Don the owner of this property. I have owned this villa for many years. Fuerteventura is one of the finest islands you can visit. I love the wildness, beaches and coves combined with a laid back feel which really helps me kick back and slow down. The village of Lajares, about a 6 minute drive from the villa is my kind of place. Barefoot, relaxed... great coffee houses and super fresh food. The locals are wonderful... Go on. Treat yourself and travel to this great island

Honestly by far one of the best places we've ever stayed at. It truely felt like a home from home. From Breakfast on the balcony to lying in the sun in the Garden peace and quite couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommended we'll go back again for Sure.

The area of lajares is nice, a quiet little village but with sufficient bars restaurants and a supermarket to make a stay worthwhile. Friendly people too & lovely weather for a Christmas stay. The villa is A good 10 mins Drive from the village however would need a car as we did or hire bikes as bike shops in village. The villa served a purpose, unfortunately it doesnt live up to its discripton. It’looked tired and dated. The villa would benefit from a deep clean and a replacement of some appliances which are old and well worn such as the toaster which you have to hold your finger on the slot button to keep the toast in ! A new overhaul of items and a spruce up would be of benefit. There is an on-site centre called Crater Park wth bar restaurant and shop. Suitable for families with children. Not the cheapest to eat and drink there and much worth traveling to the village instead. Good communication with the owner however who replied to all my queries.

We have stayed in the property in the past and found it to be very good. However this time it was in a very bad state. Despite emailing the owner with our adverse comments he has not replied. When we entered the property we noticed that there were no sheets on two of the three beds. This was rectified after a phone call to the cleaner. The downstairs back doors do not shut properly and therefore do not lock unless the broken metal shutters are permanently down. The metal shutter in the upstairs bedroom is also broken. Because of the broken shutters, when the wind blows they rattle and whistle. Various light bulbs need replacing. The clock face was broken and it needed a new battery. There was only one chair at the front and the table was covered in sand. The whole garden was a tip with overgrown bushes and dead plants. There were dead insects on the floor inside he property and we needed to brush it out. There was no handle on the freezer door. There is loose plaster on the top of the stairs. Whilst some of these things may seem very minor, we feel that as the property is let out , it should be maintained to a much higher standard.

From the time I booked it, don was helpful and answered any questions I had and the codes for the house and wifi were sent in plenty of time. The villa is a great little villa, with plenty of room and everything you need for a great stay. People on the complex are very friendly and would recommend to anyone

Been to the Villa a few times now. Always lovely and cream when we arrive. Its good value for money.a car is essential due to its location and the beach is a short drive away ten mins . It's like home from home really and if you want something more lively you can drive to Main resort. The large supermarket in costa calms is brilliant however the little one is Lajares is also good. The canela in Lajares is lovely to eat and has live music on some nights.. Lovely and peaceful for us this time. First time with out the kids ;( . Thanks Don for the break and your help and also to Melissa who let us use the villa for he extra few hours before setting out o the airport

This is our 2nd visit to Villa Gecko and we love the place. It's so relaxing and peaceful. If you like walking surfing or just relaxing this is the place to be. It's away from all the bright lights of correlejo but near enough if you want to go there. A car is definately recommended though. Villa Gecko itself is a lovely villa with everything you need and more for self catering. Since we prefer to cook our own meals this a great home from home kitchen. Highly recommend a visit here its great

Villa Gecko is exactly as described and more. The villa is spacious and had everything we needed. The views from the upstairs balcony of the sunrises each morning were spectacular. We arrived late at night but the procedure to get the key was smooth and easy and the detailed directions made finding the villa very easy. The lovely patio at the front of the house was great for leisurely breakfasts, lunches and dinners! Watching the birds and keeping an eye out for geckos (we saw some on the island but not at the villa!) The shared swimming pool was just round the corner and secure for the children. The fact that there were toilets in an area under the pool made life easy with the children! Thanks for the box of floats etc that we made full use of them up at the pool The development was very quiet but we explored lots, the little supermarket on site with its captive market could have been very expensive but it wasnt. We could have used the Pierre et Vacance facilities but never needed too apart from the fun game of mini golf! It also has a lovely view point which has amazing views around the island and over to Lanzarote. The roads in Fuertevenura were very good so even though we were right at the north we covered quite a bit of the island. Highlights were the beaches at El Cotillo and the Dunes at Correlejo Thanks to the owner for lots of helpful e-mails before we traveled and for their contact on the island who very kindly organised some bits of shopping for us so we were able to have breakfast - it was most appreciated.

Hi Everyone! At the end of February/beginning of March my husband and I spent two beautiful weeks in villa Gecko! We loved our stay there. The villa had everything that we wished for. We had a feeling like it was our home. Everything was very clean. As we mostly cooked, the kitchen had all that we needed, even more. In the evenings we also enjoyed barbecue on the villa porch. The neighbours were very friendly too. As we are surfers, we found this place very convenient for exploring all the surf spots around the north-east and north-west part of the island. Most of the times we would packed our food in small plastic tupperwares provided in the house and we would put that and drinks in a cooler bag (also provided in the house:) ) so we could spend all day out on the beautiful white sandy beaches. We would recommend this villa to any couple or a family and we are sure that we will visit it again!!! Bye, bye! Maja&Neven

Have stayed at this complex once before, first time at this villa. Key fob for security gate & details of entry code provided in plenty of time. Everything we needed in the villa, clean bright rooms, comfortable bed. WiFi gave us facility to Skype home, worked very well. Lovely warm greeting from John and Rusty the dog later in the day, very helpful and accommodating. The gardens were lovely and we enjoyed watering them in the evenings, very relaxing. We had plenty of space to relax and sunbathe and returned home with our batteries fully re-charged. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone who wants total peace and quiet in a remote place. Only been home three days, but want to go back! You do need a car but I cannot recommend Goldcar as we discovered they fill the fuel tank, charge for it and then you are charged tax on top of that. Only bad part of our trip.
