About
Ca'n Armat is owned by Paul and Marjorie, of North London. We bought the finca about 15 years ago as an escape from London, and we tend to be there in the spring and autumn.
We looked for a property that was in the country - for peace and quiet - and that was near to Santa Gertrudis that is, in our view, the best village in Ibiza. We also wanted an original ibiza finca, since we preferred an authentic Ibiza experience to a more sterile, square white modern villa. The finca had already been modernised when we bought it, so we have focused on restoring the extensive gardens that had been originally been designed by a famous landscape gardener, but had become neglected. It was so overgrown we didn't know we had a fishpond until some time after we bought it! The one thing we under-estimated when we bought it, was the amount of effort it takes to maintain the original dry stone walls that surround the property. They regularly fall down and need to be rebuilt, which is an expensive skill. But we feel we are custodians of an historic 300-year old ibiza finca, and it deserves to be kept in original and beautiful condition
