My husband David and I have always been regular visitors to the greek islands since our honeymoon 40 years ago. The beautiful island of Corfu and it's wonderful people kept drawing us back and it was here we decided to build our own holiday home. We loved the traditional village of Spartilas, known for it's spectacular views of the island. When we first visited our plot of land, a host of brightly coloured butterflies covered the vegetation. They still visit the gardens today and the villa takes its name from them- 'petalutha' is the greek word for butterfly. The views from the land took our breath away and we knew we had found the perfect location for our build. Over the next year we designed our villa to maximise the views from all rooms and terraces. It was an exciting task. We have been enjoying holidays at the villa with our friends and family for over ten years. As it is our own personal home, we have equipped it very well and provide more than most rental properties. We have made many friends on the island and have enjoyed their hospitality.
