Stunning and elegant, Five bedroom Trullo in Puglia. Beautiful private swimming pool and extensive gardens.
‘Probably the most elegant and beautiful trullo villa in Puglia’
Newly built by the celebrated designer Bettina Marksteiner, Villa Katerina is probably the most elegant and stylish trullo villa in Puglia. Surrounded by ancient oak woodland and set in its own extensive olive groves, the house is an oasis of tranquility in which to enjoy the southern Italian sun. With four main bedrooms, and a fifth set in one of the villa’s twelve conical roofs, the house can spaciously accommodate two families sharing or provide a luxurious home for just one. Airy and cool living rooms open directly onto a stunning 25 metre beach-style pool, with outside seating, cooking and dining beside it. Villa Katerina has been exquisitely build by local craftssmen and is decorated with unique artworks, including Moroccan lamps, Balinese teak furniture and work by Italian, English and Indian artists.
Entering from the villa’s front door, you pass directly into a spacious living room set under the soaring cathedral-like conical roof built from stone recovered from an ancient trullo. To your left is an elegant study area and two master bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms plus outdoor showers set in private garden areas. In the other wing of the house you will find a kitchen equipped to the highest professional standards set too under its own towering cone. Beyond is a television room with the comfiest of ‘squofas’ on which to curl up and watch everything Sky has to offer. Two more bedrooms are set beyond, the second of which has another bedroom set in the roof of the cone, as was the ancient tradition of Puglian trullo living. These bedrooms share a fabulous bathroom, with a tub in the style of Ancient Rome big enough for two or more.
