Finca overview

inca el Regalo is an Andalusian country villa situated on 20.000 m^2 ground providing extreme privacy with a wonderful view of the Mediterranean. Newly built with preservation of the Andalusian ambiance and heritage, it is tastefully decorated and furnished. The exterior of the property is no less impressive, terraced on diverse levels. The Mediterranean Garden contains over 90 matured olive, avocado, mango, and almond trees. A courtyard and ample terracing provide ideal spots for relaxing, barbecuing and dining. The pool (10 x 4.5 m) is open all the year but not heated, faces south, and enjoys wonderful views of the surrounding terrain and the sea beyond. The pool is not suitable for young children (2.0-1.3 m deep).

The main building consists of two separate units located on various levels with the smaller annex house situated near the swimming pool. We are renting the lower level of the main house and the annex house. The upper house stays closed during your stay.
In the period from June to the end of August, as well as during periods of time when none of us is on the property, we provide the fourth bedroom (bedroom in the tower) with a double bed and its own bathroom. During these periods of time, we can host up to eight people. This room will only be open if the number of people in the group authorize it and for an additional fee of 35 euro/day paid on our bank account or locally on arrival. You must inform us in advance if you intend to rent this extra facility

You drive only 12 min. to the nearest Costa del Sol village Competa where you can find all amenities. The half-hour drive to the coast takes you to the costa resorts of Torrox Costa, Nerja, Torre del Mar, offering fine beaches, water sports, markets, many bars, restaurants, and shops.

Be aware that you need a car for your stay in Finca el Regalo and you will be driving in the mountains of rural Andalusia. As a rule, please, drive in this region very carefully. You must be aware that the roads in the mountainous agricultural part of Andalusia do not meet the standards you are used to in your country. In most cases they are paved but they are narrow, they have no side protection, and some are simply unpaved mountain roads. For someone who has never visited this region, the first impression may be concern for safety. The last 500 m of the road is quite a steep descent, which has just been paved and access to the house is no longer a problem. At the top of the road, there are only a few flat, unpaved stretches left, that can be passed by any ordinary car. Traveling this road as compensation, you will receive extreme privacy during your vacation. Due to the isolated location of the house, the range of mobile telephony is not optimal in this place. We recommend using the Internet (WhatsApp or Skype) to make calls. The internet speed is 15Mb / s download and 1.5 Mb / s upload.

From June to the end of August the property will be exclusively at your disposal and no other people will occupy the house during your stay. When you rent the house for another period you will have to accept the presence of the owners on the property. We guarantee maximum privacy during your stay. From September to the end of January we collect grapes and olives for making wine & olive oil. You are welcome to actively participate in this process. Please, always give us the exact number of people at your party. We are preparing the house only for a given number of guests.

Competa & surroundings
Competa is situated 650m above sea level and due to its moderate and healthy climate a lot of people prefer this area. Being situated some distance from the sea enables Competa to enjoy a very fine climate during the winter months. Competa the old Moorish Town overlooking the Sierras is relatively free of tourism and still intrinsically Spanish in culture, bustling with local live. When you take a walk to Competa - which for centuries has been the capital of wine and resins - you will find yourself immediately immersed in all the charm of a village that, with its narrow, white-washed streets and flower-covered balconies, appears impervious to the passage of time.

The village Competa is very well served with an abundance of fine restaurants and bars, each offering local cuisine or tapas at low prices. Competa's inhabitants live from agriculture, especially wine growing, from which wines they obtain the "Moscatel wine" and "Uva Pasa" (Dry Grapes), both products internationally appreciate due to their excellent quality. Each year on 15th August Competa hosts a very famous wine festival called El Noche Del Vino (The Night of the Wine). At the end of July there is the annual Feria (country fair) which usually lasts a week when the local people hardly sleep at all.

For anyone who wishes to explore the foothills of Sierra Almijara the countryside surrounding Competa offers splendid views, excellent walking, bird watching and horseback riding. It is a good starting point for excursions and hikers. This Costa del Sol area is perfect both for walking in the mountains and relaxing on the beach. From December to April, you can enjoy alpine ski sports in Sierra Nevada the Costa del Sol ski resort.

There are many places to visit around Competa that offer a wide range of traditions, beauty, history, and amusements. The Alcazaba in Málaga, with the port and the city itself and the Picasso Museum; Córdoba, with its grand Mosque; Granada, with its incomparable Palace of the Alhambra; or the beautiful gardens of Seville and, as a backdrop, the snowy peaks of Sierra Nevada - are just some of the examples. In Nerja you should visit the most spectacular attraction - fascinating caves, located just three kilometers from the center of town. They include archaeological treasures such as paintings over 20,000 years old and other pre-historic remains. For the more adventurous, Madrid is only a 2 1/2-hour train drive (AVE) away and Morocco is just across the Strait of Gibraltar.

Had a great stay here last summer, ideal as we were a family plus a couple. The drive isn't for everyone but after doing it a couple of times you get used to it!

A truly beautiful setting, with complete privacy! We loved the Finca el Regalo because of its views, gorgeous terraces, pool, fruit trees and the Spanish feel. Fountains, tiles, huge pots of jasmine, lots of small detail that really gave the place a wonderful atmosphere. The house itself was comfortable and clean and the kitchen, well equipped. It...

Had a very pleasant stay here with extended family in July 2018. We've stayed in many rented houses in Andalusia over the past years and this is one of the nicest we've stayed in. The property is as described and as pictured. But there are a things potential renters should be aware of. Firstly, you only have access to the bottom floor of the main...

Thank you Tony for a nice review. Unfortunately we can’t improve the quality of the access road to the Finca but it is rather common problem in rural Spain. It is mentioned in the advertisement, that the upper part of the main house will stay closed. We decided to do that trying to keep a little bit privacy for ourselves in the home where we are...
