Bluebird Cottage is in the centre of this historic market town on the edge of the North Yorks Moors. It is in easy walking distance of independent pubs, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and take-aways. We are also in easy walking distance of Kirk theatre. You can walk to Pickering Beck, Pickering Castle or the historic steam railway station within 5 minutes, and can quickly be in open countryside.
Our 18th cottage has thick stone walls, window seats and beamed ceilings. Its windows are shuttered, making it really snug.
The living room is cosy, with a cast iron fireplace (not in use) soft velvet sofa , 2 velvet chairs and 4k smart TV.
There is a fully equipped kitchen diner with a wood burner. The kitchen has an oven, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge (with ice box), coffee machine and microwave. We provide a smart speaker so you can listen to the radio, music or podcasts.
There are 2 bedrooms: The main bedroom is on the first floor with a king sized bed.
The attic bedroom on the second floor has a superking bed that can be separated into twin beds on request. The attic room also has a leather sofa. Each bedroom has a smart TV. There is a shower room on the first floor.
A stable door leads from the kitchen to the courtyard garden with a covered seating area with table & chairs, ideal for morning coffees. There are small outbuildings with a washing machine, tumble dryer and outdoors drying line.
Pickering is the gateway town to the North Yorks Moors National Park. The area is popular with walkers and cyclists all year round.
Pickering is famous for its medieval castle, its church with the most complete medieval walls paintings in Britain and it is the home of the North Yorkshire Moors National Railway. A trip to Whitby in a vintage carriage pulled by a steam engine through the dramatic moors countryside is not to be missed.
Dalby Forest is 6 miles away with its walking and cycling trails, play areas, BBQ and picnic sites, bike hire and the Go Ape Tree top adventure attraction. Flamingo Land with its zoo and theme park is 4 miles away.
We are also close to historic York, and food lovers will want to visit Malton – Yorkshire’s food capital – just 15 mins away. you can cycle there from Pickering on a dedicated cycle route
It is a short 30 min drive to the spectacular Yorkshire coastline with its beaches and destination towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay and Saltburn.
