This villa is in a tranquil area called Cerrados del Aguila, in the Mijas area of the Costa del Sol. It is close to several golf courses and beaches, and only a 20 minute drive to Fuengirola's dining and nightlife scene.
The Cerrados del Aguila golf resort is part of the Golf Valley of Mijas and offers beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea from most of its courses. Small yet perfectly formed, this golf course excels in 9-hole courses. There is also a restaurant on site. Alternatively, try out Mijas Golf, which was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and boasts two courses - Los Lagos and Los Olivos. These 18- hole masterpieces have superb views of the surrounding countryside.
Fuengirola beach has 7km of powdery golden coastline, with separate areas for watersports and bathing. The beach is very family-friendly and extends from Sohail castle to Torreblanco. There are plenty of charming chiringuitos, which loosely translates to cafes on the sand. At Fuengirola beach you can go wakeboarding, water-skiing and tubing or parasailing. Dine at one of the dozen renowned eateries and enjoy the buzzing nightlife. Additionally, Fuengirola has many stylish boutiques in the Corta Ingles that fashionistas will love.
There is a peaceful boardwalk in the coastal area of La Cala, which passes by a 16th-century watchtower. On Wednesdays and Saturday mornings there is a bustling street market where you can join the locals and hunt out some treasures to take home. In the summer, there are lots of open-air concerts held in this area. Local delicacies from Mijas to look out for include Maimona, a special type of bread with garlic and oil - and definitely try the area's fresh seafood.
Culture vultures will love the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, an art museum that houses the second-largest collection of Picasso ceramics, alongside Dalí's bronze figurines. The museum also has a rotation of great temporary exhibitions.
