This countryside villa promises a private-home stay, blessed by sweeping sea views and modern comfort living spaces. It provides its guests a perfect base for visiting the numerous rhythms of the island and beautiful sandy beaches. It’s a contemporary property which is located on the outskirts of the city of “Rethymno”, in the peacefulness of a quiet village “Kastelakia”, at the same time easy access to the beach (1km) and the old city centre (3 km) with its winding alleyways, ancient fortress, restaurants and bars.
At the grass lawn, lay back on the sun recliners, rest in a shaded hammock settled under a huge tree, listen to the birds and fully relax in a quiet surrounding. From here, the views along the coastline and out to the sapphire blue sea are just wonderful. Facilities
The living space is 130 square meters and the sea view garden is 1000 square meters.
The main entrance leads to a bright and spacious open-plan living and dining area and a fitted kitchen with dishwasher. The lounge is equipped with a flat screen smart TV to keep you entertained and a work desk with chair. From the living room area, there is a direct access to the main veranda and the sunny garden through two sets of French doors. Enjoy the unobstructed view from the patio windows towards the sea.
The holiday house offers a fully equipped kitchen with table corner and 3 chairs. Fine porcelain plates and cutlery as well as the local fresh ingredients, do allow you to prepare a tasty meal. At the back side of the vacation rental, next to the entrance gate, you can use the stone build barbecue unit for outside grilling.
Sleeping arrangements
You will find three bedrooms, including one with a king size bed, one with a double and one twin bedded room. Each bedroom has patio doors opening onto a veranda with views towards the mountains or out to sea, roll shutters and air-condition units. One baby cot can be added to a bedroom with single beds.
Bathrooms
A family bathroom with a bathtub/shower combination and a washing machine, as well as a a second bathroom with shower provide a comfortable stay.
Neighbourhood
Enjoy the peaceful and beautiful countryside location and stunning views towards the sea. The area offers a Cretan village lifestyle. The holiday accommodation is located on the road from "Perivolia" towards "Kastelakia", 1 km from the beach promenade and 3 km from Rethymno old city center. Also you can explore the island with a short drive to the north highway at "Amari" junction which is the principal getaway for your excursions.
The vacation house is situated at the same distance from both the airports of Heraklion & Chania - about 75 km and 12 km to the port of Rethymno. The central bus station of Rethymno offers services to various locations all over Crete like Heraklion / Knossos, Chania, Samaria gorge, south coast destinations, all roughly an hour away.
Lake "Kourna" is about 20 minutes away and is well worth a visit. Arkadi monastery, well known for its history is a short drive away of 15 minutes. Continue your trip to visit the archaeological site of Elefterna and the caves of Melidoni. Getting around
The vacation rental is situated on the hillside just outside the historic town of Rethymno on Crete’s picturesque north coast. Due to it's location the use of a car is recommended.
Shopping facilities for everyday necessities can be found at the beach promenade of "Perivolia" at a walking distance of 1 km providing large supermarkets, cafés , bars and taverns serving typical fresh Cretan dishes. Also offering an elaborated tourist infrastructure of organised beach facilities like water sports, sun recliners and beach service. However there are many beautiful beaches all over the island catering to all needs - busy, secluded, whatever you are looking for, you won't have far to go.
Please note
Building works started around June 2024 at an adjacent plot of the villa at a distance of 60 meters. The plot is located behind the pine trees and the secondary road at the left side of the property grounds facing the sea when you consult google maps. Concrete construction is finished, but there could be some noise disturbance from 07:00 am to 15:00 pm during summer 2024.
