Here are just a handful of activities that make Turkey the ultimate family-friendly destination.
1. Paragliding at Oludeniz
Oludeniz is reputedly the best place in Europe for Paragliding. Babadag Mountain, which towers above Oludeniz, creates incredible thermals that provide ideal flying conditions - as well as some INCREDIBLE views! You will also go on a 50-minute jeep safari to get to the take-off point, where you will be taken through some of Turkey's extraordinary mountainside scenery. 2. Pamukkale Thermal Pools
Due to its unique and very active geological past, Turkey has some incredible natural treasures to visit. Pamukkale Thermal Pools, which translates to 'Cotton Castle', is a natural hot spring whose bright blue waters cascade over giant white calcified tiers. The waters are naturally kept at a constant temperature of a 35°C and are full of natural minerals. So after taking a dip, you can simply dry off and let the minerals work their magic! We think it looks like something out of Frozen... so the kids are bound to love it!
3. Hot-Air Ballooning Over Cappadocia
This is one of the most popular spots in the world to go up in a hot-air balloon and there really is no better way to see the “fairy chimneys” and other features of the extraordinary landscape. Mums and dads can even enjoy a bottle of bubbly on board! This is bound to be an unforgettable experience that the kids will never forget.
4. Charter a Yacht on the South-West Coast
The deeply indented coastline between Bodrum and Finike is the perfect venue for cruises on a yacht, gulet, or traditional wooden motor-schooner! This is the perfect way to experience Turkey when you're with the kids. Ensure short sailing distances between destinations, and they will love jumping into the water from the boat and exploring hidden beaches along the way. Try a catamaran for extra play space!
5. Ancient Ephesus
Ephesus, addressed by Saint Paul in one of his epistles, is the best preserved of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean. Its excavated remains reflect centuries of history, from classical Greece to the Roman Empire. You can also see the house where the Virgin Mary is believed to have lived. The city makes for the perfect day out to educate the kids about some of Turkey's colourful history!
