This small town, whose history goes back 3000 years, is the oldest Croatian royal town, the cradle of the Croatian state and the first political, religious and cultural centre of medieval Croatia, as evidenced by the numerous monuments in the surrounding area. The city with the smallest cathedral in the world is one of the richest archaeological sites in Croatia. It is also one of the leading destinations for health tourism. Near the beautiful sandy beach Kraljiina plaa (Queen's Beach) are deposits of mineral-rich mud, widely known for its healing properties. Nin is also famous for its salt pans, where salt is still produced according to a 1000 year old tradition.
