Truly lovely seafront village house in fantastic location on Bol Harbour. Perfect for a beach vacation as Croatia's most famous beach, and the local diving centre are nearby. Town beach 30 m away.
Harbour House is 200 years old. With 2 ft thick walls This seafront house has stood the test of time. With its large terrace providing panoramic views over the harbour and surrounding area it is unique in that it is the only house that is actually right on the harbour.
Although not huge, the house feels surprisingly spacious because of the way in which it is laid out. Entry into a wide hallway stretching the depth of the house to the stairs gives you access to a large well equipped kitchen and an equally large ground floor bedroom; Stairs bring you to the bathroom and further on to a wide landing with the second bedroom and the terrace sitting room [this leads out to the terrace itself, with its large table, six reclining chairs and awning].
It has a lovely private garden that is hidden from the world behind the house. With a marble patio and dining area it is a lovely place to have breakfast or spend an evening.
Bol is a cosmopolitan resort town with many little bars and restaurants surrounding the harbour but still retains its village atmosphere as the fishermen still go out to fish. Guests can browse in the many little shops nearby. The new marina is just behind the house.
We have our own dedicated parking place on the harbour which, in Bol, is very difficult to obtain.
Bol is a famous water sports centre and the Golden Horn Beach, a fine white marble shale beach that reaches into the sea, changing shape with the prevailing sea currents, is a short walk away. A water sports centre is nearby.
Bol has a great night life. All of the open air restaurants and bars come to life at dusk, and villagers and visitors mingle around the harbour and quayside: If you really want to party you can aim for the Golden Horn Beach and its night club set back from the sea, or if you prefer you can enjoy a delicious cocktail at the cocktail bar on the harbour. Regular summer festivals with dancing and fun mean that the village always has something happening. The house is right at the heart of everything but guests at Harbour House can sleep soundly in their beds as double glazing and secondary double glazing, combined with air conditioning keeps the house cool and quiet.
For guests with boats, a berth in Bol Harbour can be arranged.
Living waterside is a delight. In the late afternoon the sunlight reflected off of the sea, playing on the ceiling in the ground floor rooms through the louvres of the shutters, brings the ocean very close.
Croatia Airlines, Easyjet, British Airways, Norwegian Air and Whizzair have regular flights to Split although you can often get significant discounts on these flights if you book through Travel Republic. Guests flying from Austria and Switzerland can fly direct to Brac Airport [9 km away from the house].
Local amenities.
The Golden Horn Beach is only a short stroll away along the marble walk. Here you can swim and sunbathe to your hearts content. If the sun gets to hot at midday you can retreat into the pine trees and enjoy a meal or a cocktail at one of the bars set amongst the trees,
In the other direction, en route toward the Dominican Monastery with its lovely beach, the coastal path passes numerous small restaurants and eateries, including Mlin [The Mill]. the lovely seafront restaurant in a traditional fisherman's house, is at the end of the coastal path. Here the food is flavoursome and inexpensive and the location is hard to beat. The beach is absolutely perfect for children.
