Getting your refundable breakage deposit back
If you've paid a refundable breakage deposit as part of your booking, we hold that until after the booking. If the owner does not make a claim against your booking, we will automatically refund this money to the card you paid on.
The owner decides how many days they need to check the property after you've left; this cannot be any more than 10 days. The details of this will be in your Booking Contract. Please note that the claim assessment process may take an additional 10 working days.
If the owner makes a claim against the booking, we will be in touch with full details. We encourage you to communicate with the owner to come to an adequate resolution on this.
If an owner doesn’t make a claim, the full deposit will be returned to you.
When will I get the breakage deposit back?
This will be released after the last day that the owner has set, so up to 10 days from the date you checked out. The refund will be initiated after this date and you should expect to see the money returned, to the same card you paid it on, a few working days after that.
If the card you made the original payment on has expired, the refund will be attempted to your new card; if there are any issues with this you’ll get an email explaining what steps to take to make sure you receive the refund.
